SALIS LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC)
SALIS LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC)
A learning resource center (LRC) is a facility within a school, staffed by a specialist, containing several information sources to facilitate education for students and staff. It differs from a regular school library in its additional focus on multimedia resources and information technology.
The main objective of the LRC is for the easy access of library resources plus the e-copy and multimedia outputs for student’s use.
Setting up of a digital learning resource center, a data-base of learning resources aligned with the standard K-12 curriculum mandated by the Department of Education. The school continues to build up its LRC, containing links to electronic copies of books, learning plans, assessments and other resources and eventually “park” it in the school’s website . All that has been collected so far are temporarily deposited in the school’s google drive hosted by Google Suite. SALIS also contracted the services of Frontlearners which provides standard learning plans and assessments which aligns with Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) . These materials have been embedded in the school’s google drive which will all be part of the
LRC.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS CENTER (IMC)
Introduction
An Instructional Material Center is a repository of collated materials that can be used in the effective delivery of lessons for a better experience in the students' learning.
The computer units with internet connectivity are used for the purpose of accessing information such as online materials in academic and research subjects.
“The school media center is central to the instructional program of a school. Its main purpose is to provide service to the faculty, students, and administration in accessing information, developing research strategies and in the utilization of media. The media center program strengthens and improves the instruction in the school by developing in students lifelong learning skills and a love for reading.” (Betty J. Morris, 1992 Administering the School Library Media Center.)
